Alma Bailey 2026 Scholarship
Honoring Courage, Strength, and Community Service
The Nile Swim Club of Yeadon proudly presents the Alma Bailey Scholarship Fund, established to honor the life and legacy of Alma Bailey — a Tuskegee Cadet Nurse, community trailblazer, and long-time member and supporter of the Nile Swim Club of Yeadon.
Alma Bailey’s life exemplified perseverance, service, and dedication to the health and well-being of others. As a cadet nurse associated with the Tuskegee Airmen program during World War II, she broke barriers in healthcare while remaining deeply committed to uplifting her community. This scholarship continues her legacy by supporting future nurses who reflect her courage, strength, and commitment to service.
🎓 Scholarship Overview
Award Amount: $1,000
Recipient: One nursing student
Payment: Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the recipient’s educational institution
Award Presentation: Founders Day Ceremony – July 2026
(Recipient must be present to receive the award)
✅ Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be 18 years or older
Be an active member of the Nile Swim Club of Yeadon for at least two consecutive years
Be currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program (LPN, RN, or BSN)
📝 Application Requirements
Applicants must submit:
Completed application form
Proof of enrollment in a nursing program
A 500–750 word essay reflecting on both of the following questions:
How do you demonstrate courage and strength in your nursing journey?
How does your work reflect the spirit of Alma Bailey and the Nile Swim Club of Yeadon’s mission of community wellness?
